517:1 is a sculptural exploration of civic presence and proportionality, translating a statistical ratio into physical form. Constructed of sandstone and stainless steel, the piece represents the relationship between Tacoma’s population and its number of police officers, grounding an abstract figure in a tangible, site-specific installation along MLK Jr. Way at the Tacoma Police Substation.
